This is a private reference resource, not a government office. It cannot verify custody, release a person, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Direct those questions to the relevant agency or court.
Choose the Record Custodian
Jackson County's custody path can involve a local arresting agency, a state regional jail in Charleston, and a court in Ripley. Start with the office that created or maintains the item you need. The county sheriff's current office contact is 304-373-2290; official directories have conflicting older numbers and mailing details, so confirm the routing before a visit or written request.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office:
98 North Maple Street
Ripley, WV 25271
304-373-2290
Ask for the current records-request procedure, fee, submission route, and office hours before relying on legacy directory details.
When a person may have been booked into state regional custody, use the official WVDCR Offender Search first. South Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility serves Jackson County but is located at 1001 Centre Way, Charleston, WV 25309, phone 304-558-1336. Its contact route is not a substitute for the arresting agency's incident report.
- For a current custody result or daily-admissions question, start with the state RJA search, then ask the agency or SCRJCF which facility holds the record.
- For an arrest report or city incident, contact Ripley Police, 375 South Church Street, Ripley, WV 25271, 304-372-4711, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or Ravenswood Police, 1 Wall Street, Ravenswood, WV 26164, 304-273-3500, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- For a filed case, charge, or disposition, use the Jackson County Judiciary and the Magistrate Record Search; the clerk validates documents.
- For a custody-change alert, register through WV VINE or call 1-866-WV4-VINE. It is a notification tool, not a booking-photo archive.
- For a sentenced federal or immigration detainee, use the separate BOP locator or ICE locator. Neither is part of the Jackson County jail roster.
